Every once in a while, the stars align perfectly, and a photographer has one of those sessions where everything just goes right. This newborn session was one of those. The lighting was gorgeous, the baby was an absolute dream to photograph (she slept for a good portion of the session, and was adorably awake for part of it), and mom and dad were SO in love with their beautiful baby girl. The most difficult thing about this session was narrowing down my favorites to edit – I ended up with a LOT of favorites.
The lighting in the master bedroom was absolutely perfect for lifestyle newborn portraits. We were able to capture adorable images with mom and dad, as well as some of my all-time favorite images of baby girl by herself. /Sigh. I just can’t get over how much I love the portraits we captured during this session! After the master bedroom portraits, we went out in to the foyer where the yummy hardwood floors provided the perfect backdrop for some basket poses. I love the warmth that the hardwood floors provided!
I know I say it all the time, but I love love LOVE lifestyle newborn sessions. When I’m photographing a baby in their home with their family and their everyday surroundings, I just really feel like I’m in my element – like I’ve finally found that elusive “style” that all photographers obsess over finding for themselves. I enjoy the posed newborn sessions too, of course, but there’s just something about lifestyle! I still like to incorporate wraps, hats, and headbands, and I still do a bit of posing, but I adore the clean, simple look of the images from this type of session.
